The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) Dubai has launched Golden Chance Driving License Scheme for citizens of some specific countries. This golden chance allows them to choose a shortcut to get a driving license in Dubai.

The foreign citizens who have a driving license from their home country can choose the Golden Chance Driving License in Dubai to save money and get the license faster than the normal process.

Getting a Dubai driving license is a long process that costs a lot of time and so much of fees. But you can skip 70% of the process by taking the golden chance driving license option at the time of applying for it.

What is Golden Chance Driving License in Dubai?

The golden chance driving license is an opportunity for foreign citizens who want to get a driving license in Dubai at less cost and less time. The Golden Chance option allows the applicants to minimize the training period as well as directly appear in knowledge test and road test to get their driving license in Dubai.

The golden chance driving license option is available for expat residents who already have a valid driving license issued by respective authority of their home country.

Eligibility for Golden Chance Driving License Dubai

The applicant must possess a valid driving license issued from the other country. It is the first and most important eligibility to apply for the golden chance driving license in Dubai.

The golden chance applicant has to go through the eye test, knowledge test and road test to get the driving license in Dubai.

The theory lessons and practical training about driving in Dubai are optional for the golden chance applicant.

The RTA Dubai offers only one golden chance to every eligible applicant. If the applicant fails in road test, they have to reapply for a new driving license with a normal process.

• Original Driving License of Home Country.
• Arabic Translation of Home Country Driving License.
• Original Passport with Residency Visa Page and Its Photocopy.
• Original Emirates ID Card and Its Photocopy.

• Eye Test Report from an RTA Approved Eye Test Center.
• No Objection Certificate from the Sponsor, only if requested by the traffic department.

The normal driving license fees in Dubai are approximately AED 5000 to 7000 but the golden chance driving license costs less fees. Here I provide the list of fees associated with golden chance as under;

Where to Apply for Golden Chance Driving License Dubai

There are four service channels available for foreign citizens expat residents who want to apply for the golden chance driving license in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

You can select one of the four service channels to apply for a driving license in Dubai and choose the golden chance to skip training at a driving school to directly appear the road test to get your driving license.

How to Apply for Golden Chance Driving License Online

You can apply online for golden chance driving license by using RTA Dubai website or its mobile app, here are the steps.

1. Open an RTA Traffic File Online
2. Get the Eye Test Done
3. Book Knowledge Test Date & Time
4. Clear Knowledge Test and Book Road Test
5. Clear Road Test in One Chance
6. Get the Driving License

#Step 1: Open an RTA Traffic File Online

1. Go to RTA Dubai official website @www.rta.ae or open RTA Dubai App on your mobile phone.
2. Select Login section and click on Individual/Company option.
3. Enter your Username and Password or Login with UAE PASS. If you are a new user, register yourself and then login.
4. Select Driver and Car Owner>Drivers Licensing>New UAE Driving License.
5. Read the service information and click on Start Service.
6. Fill up your personal details and upload required documents.
7. Select your country name and choose Golden Chance Driving License option.
8. Schedule your eye test at an RTA approved eye test center.

#Step 2: Get the Eye Test Done

You should visit the RTA approved eye test center on your selected date & time. Get your eye test done properly and ask the service executive for the results.

After you receive your eye test results, you can proceed to the next step of getting golden chance driving license.

#Step 3: Book Knowledge Test Date & Time

Once you qualify the eye test, you need to take theory lessons at a driving institute by paying relevant fees but it is optional for golden chance applicants. So, you can decide if you need to take theory lessons to learn traffic/driving rules in Dubai and clear the knowledge test for driving license.

With or without taking theory lessons, you can schedule your desired date & time for the knowledge test at RTA website.

#Step 4: Clear Knowledge Test and Book Road Test

You must appear the knowledge test and clear it to move further in the RTA Dubai driving license process. In case you fail in knowledge test, you can apply for the retest by paying the test fee again.

Once you clear the knowledge test, you should login to RTA website and book the date & time slot for the road test. You can take practical training for driving for AED 210 per hour if you wish otherwise book the road test without any training.

#Step 5: Clear Road Test in One Chance

You must appear the RTA road test on your selected date & time. You have to clear the road test in one time because there is no retest option.

The RTA Dubai provides only one golden chance to clear the final road test to get your driving license.

In case you fail the road test, you need to take the normal/regular driving license option, take all practical training lessons at a driving institute by paying required fees and then reappear the road test.

#Step 6: Get the Driving License

After clearing the final road test, you need to login to RTA website to pay the driving license fees and delivery fees.

The RTA Dubai will issue your driving license and you will be able to access it instantly in RTA Dubai App on your mobile phone. It may take 2-4 days to deliver physical driving license at your doorstep.
