The Certificate of Continuity is an important document after changing a job in Abu Dhabi. When you change your job to a new employer, you have to obtain the Certificate of Continuity from your previous insurance company and submit the same to the new employer.

The Health Insurance is mandatory for everyone living in the Abu Dhabi Emirate. For expats working in Abu Dhabi, it is their employer’s responsibility to get the health insurance for all employees and renew it time to time.

When an employee changes their job from one company to another, the employee has to provide a Certificate of Continuity to the new employer. In case you have recently changed your job and don’t know how to get the Certificate of Continuity, this guide will make it very easy for you.

How to Get Certificate of Continuity

There are three methods to get a Certificate of Continuity in Abu Dhabi. You can get the Certificate of Continuity Online at the respective health insurance company’s website, or get it from its mobile app or collect it from its local branch.

There are many insurance agencies in Abu Dhabi. To explain the methods to get a Certificate of Continuity, let us assume that you have a health insurance from Daman Health. Now I will explain the online and offline methods in brief.

How to Get Certificate of Continuity Online

Step 1: Go to Daman Health Website Portal

You should go to the Daman Health Insurance official website portal @www.damanhealth.ae.

Step 2: Select Login and Click on Login as Customer

Find the Login section at upper right corner of the homepage and select it. As you select the Login section, you will see three options i.e. Login as Member, Login as Customer and Login as Broker/Agent. You should select Login as Customer to continue.

Step 3: Login with User Name & Password or Login with UAE PASS

On the Customer Login Page, enter your User Name and Password, then click on Login button. You can also choose Login with UAE PASS option, and allow access from UAE PASS app on your mobile to login as a customer on the Daman Health website.

Step 4: Select Insurance Documents Section

After login, you should go to My Profile/Account section and find out Insurance Documents section.

Step 5: Find Certificate of Continuity or Continuity Certificate

Under Insurance Documents section, you can see the list of documents related to your health insurance. Here you should look for the Certificate of Continuity (or Continuity Certificate).

Step 6: Click on Download Option

There is a download option or symbol near Certificate or Continuity option. You should click on Download Option/Symbol to download your Certificate of Continuity in PDF format.

Get Certificate of Continuity through App

You have to download Daman App for Android from Play Store or Daman Health App for iPhone from App Store. Thereafter follow the steps given below to get the Certificate of Continuity through Daman Health App on your mobile.

Step 1: Open Daman Health App on your mobile phone.

Step 2: Enter your User Name and Password to Login or Login with UAE PASS App to continue.

Step 3: After login, you can see the Customer Home on your screen.

Step 4: Select More option given at lower right corner.

Step 5: Now, tap on Insurance Documents option.

Step 6: Find out Continuity Certificate option.

Step 7: Tap on Download Symbol to download your Certificate of Continuity as a PDF file.

In this way, you can download the Certificate of Continuity with help of Daman Health App on your iPhone or Android Mobile.

Get Certificate of Continuity from a Branch

You can also visit a Daman Health Insurance branch to get your Certificate of Continuity. You have to provide your Insurance Card to the service executive at Daman Health branch.

If you have handed over your Insurance Card to your previous employer, you can request him to give it back for one day. You can also download the Insurance Card via Daman Health Mobile App. Once you have your Insurance Card, go through the steps given below;

1. Click Here to Find a Daman Health Branch Near You.
2. Choose a branch that is close to your current location.
3. Visit the Daman Health branch.
4. Meet the service executive and ask him/her to issue your Certificate of Continuity.
5. Provide your Insurance Card to the executive.
6. Within 2 minutes, the executive will issue the Certificate of Continuity and give it to you.
7. Take your Certificate of Continuity and leave.

So, you can get your Continuity Certificate from Daman Health branch for free and it takes only two minutes.

In case you have any other company’s Health Insurance Policy, you can get the Certificate of Continuity online from its website or mobile app or from its branch. The process steps are similar to the steps that I have shared above.

Validity of Certificate of Continuity

The Certificate of Continuity comes with a validity of one month i.e. 30 days. Once you get the Certificate of Continuity, you must submit it to your new employer within 30 days.

In case of delay, you have to get a new Certificate of Continuity from the health insurance company as the old certificate is expired.

Which Info Included in Certificate of Continuity?

The Certificate of Continuity includes following information about the Customer. You should check the below list and match it with your Continuity Certificate to know if it contains all the details about you and/or your dependents.

Fee for Certificate of Continuity

According to the Law, all health insurance companies are required to issue the Certificate of Continuity at free of cost when requested by the customer.

Any health insurance company/agency cannot charge any fee to issue a Certificate of Continuity.

If a health insurance executive has asked for any service fee/charge for issuing your Continuity Certificate, it is against the law.

Importance of Certificate of Continuity

The Certificate of Continuity is an important document required for transfer of health insurance from the old employer to the new employer.

When you change your job, it is important to update your Residency Visa and Health Insurance as per rules.

So, you must get a Certificate of Continuity from relevant insurance company and provide the same to your new employer. Thereafter the new employer will submit that certificate to another health insurance company.

Now, your health insurance is sponsored by the new employer and the healthcare services are covered by the health insurance company to whom the employer has submitted your Certificate of Continuity.
